Masters-Level Internship with Crisis Services

Hours: 20-24 hours per week which might include weekend days, for both fall and spring semesters

Position Summary: Crisis Services offers a variety of options for access to crisis intervention assistance. Our Behavioral Health Urgent Care offers walk-in assessments from 8am-midnight, 7 days a week, for any age and any self-defined crisis. Our Crisis Stabilization Unit is a 10-bed short term mental health residential facility that offers daily group therapy, individual therapy, psychiatry, and medication management services. Our mobile response team offers 24/7 mobile response to community crisis within Larimer County. This internship position has the opportunity to gain experience across all three of these programs.

Intern Responsibilities : Intern will be a part of our SummitStone Crisis Team assisting in crisis interventions across our urgent care, CSU, and mobile programs and opportunities will include:

    • Crisis interventions for individuals of all ages
    • Experience with risk assessments
    • Monitoring inpatient progress
    • Assessing for ongoing services
    • Arranging for follow-up appointments at discharge
    • Connection to community resources and outpatient providers
    • Psychiatry and medication management experience
    • Collaboration with community partners for resources for clients
    • Co-facilitation of individual therapy and psycho-education groups
    • Observation and co-facilitation of individual therapy
    • Utilizing techniques including but not limited to, guided imagery, grounding techniques/brief interventions, individual and group therapy

Requirements: Entering final year of a social work or counseling graduate program in an accredited college or university; Experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.).

Preferred: Familiarity with resources within Larimer County; experience with acute mental health disorders and substance abuse disorders.
